The Dutch centre-back is reportedly wanted by the Blues.

Chelsea are reportedly set to break the banks for Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku, who is likely to be their first signing of the transfer window.

The Blues manager Thomas Tuchel is in the market for defensive reinforcement, with highly-rated Sevilla defender Jules Kounde being heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.

However, talks regarding the signing of Jules Kounde looks to have stalled for time being as the Blues are sorting out whether to include Kurt Zouma as a part of the deal or not.

According to a new report, Chelsea are preparing a surprise swoop for Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt, who has been a staple in the defence over the last two seasons.

It is also added that Blues could bid around €60m and are willing to include Timo Werner in a player plus cash deal.

De Ligt moved to Turin in 2019 after creating huge waves at Ajax. Although he had some initial awkward moments, the Dutch centre-back established himself as a regular in Juve’s backline in the absence of Giorgio Chiellini.

The 21-year-old has returned to Juve’s training camp after a disappointing Euro 2020 campaign, where he saw a red card in the Netherlands’ round-of-16 defeat against Czech.

De Ligt will be focused on giving his best to the Old Lady for the upcoming season under Max Allegri.

It remains to be seen whether Chelsea’s offer is more concrete and even though it could be so, Juve have deemed the young Dutchman as untouchable.
