Chelsea suffer setback in Andreas Christensen contract talks, Haaland transfer boost

Christensen’s contract talks stalled

Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen has become a revived figure since Thomas Tuchel took over at Stamford Bridge.

Despite being in the final year of his contract, it was reported earlier that the Dane was all but set to pen an extension.

According to a new report from Goal, the Blues’ contract talks with Christensen have stalled due to the lack of contact between both parties for a while.

It has also been added that Londoner’s current offer – a new four year deal with an option for an additional year – would only place the Danish international among the lowest earners in the squad.

The 25-year-old has made six appearances in the Premier League this season and did play a key role for the Blues to win the Champions League last term.

If the Londoners fail to negotiate over a new deal, Christensen will be free to hold talks with clubs outside England in January.

Erling Haaland transfer boost

Chelsea have been handed a huge boost in the transfer race for Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland.

While it was believed that the Blues were not in the mix for Haaland anymore following Lukaku’s arrival, Tuchel recently spoke about the prospect of the Norwegian and Lukaku in the same line-up.

Manchester United are understood to be one of the frontrunners for Haaland’s signature due to the Norwegian connection between Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Dortmund star.

Perhaps, United were considered the favourites to sign the 21-year-old before he sought a move to Bundesliga.

Reports are stating that Solskjaer is counting his days at Old Trafford and United look ready to replace him with Antonio Conte.

According to Football London, the Norwegian manager’s departure could hinder United’s pursuit of Haaland, which would be welcome news for Chelsea.
