Frenkie de Jong sustain hamstring injury

Barcelona’s injury woes continue to deepen, with Frenkie de Jong becoming their latest casualty.

The Catalan giants have confirmed that the Dutch midfielder has picked up a hamstring strain during El Clasico and will miss the La Liga clash against Rayo Vallecano. He could be doubtful for the weekend game against Celta Vigo as well.

With players like Pedri, Ronaldo Araujo, Martin Braithwaite being on the injury list, De Jong’s absence could prove to be a huge blow for the Catalan giants.

The former Ajax star is expected to return to action for next week’s Champions League away game against Dynamo Kyiv.

Sergi Roberto, Riqui Puig and Nico Gonzalez are in line to get minutes in the absence of De Jong when Barca play Vallecano on Wednesday.

Koeman’s future is intact for the time being

Ronald Koeman’s position as Barca manager has been questioned once again following the dismal defeat to Real Madrid in El Clasico at the weekend.

However, according to Marca via Barca Blaugranes, the Dutch gaffer’s future is intact and the Blaugrana would stick with him for the time being.

The upcoming games against Vallecano, Celta Vigo and Kyiv would have a huge say on Koeman’s future and if he fails to turn the fortunes around, he might be shown the exit doors.

Barca have endured a terrible start to the new season, currently ninth in the La Liga table and have picked only one win out of three games in the Champions League group stage.
