Tuchel opens on young midfielder Gilmour

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has revealed that he was the reason behind not allowing Billy Gilmour to leave on loan in January.

The young Scot has featured in only one game since the German boss took over and that too coming in FA Cup.

Gilmour had his breakthrough with the first team last season under Frank Lampard, catching everyone’s attention with some impressive displays.

However, a knee injury soon dented his progress and as a result, he was ruled out of action for five months before becoming available in November. Ever since then Gilmour has struggled to make his way into the starting eleven of the Blues.

Tuchel said,  “It’s absolutely no mistake. It was unfortunately not his choice. It was my choice. The choice was made for Chelsea and not for the personal goals of Billy. He accepted it in a five-minute talk, he had no problem with it.

“I actually hope he knows how much I appreciate him as a person and as a footballer.

The former PSG boss also added that Gilmour’s reason for not gaining the starter berth is due to the presence of three senior midfielders Matteo Kovacic, Jorginho and N’Golo Kante, which he labelled as three problems.

“He has three big problems – N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho are three big problems. They are never injured and they perform at a level in central midfield that is not easy to compete with. This is the only thing. I have no trust issue with him. I have no problem with attitude.”

Liverpool an ideal place for out of favour Pulisic, claims Brad Fiedel.

Former Premier League star has urged Liverpool to consider the signing of struggling Blues star Christian Pulisic.

The USMNT international has struggled for game time under Tuchel and his compatriot feels Liverpool could be a perfect place for Pulisic to revive his career.

“I think Liverpool’s system is a good one for Christian, without a doubt.

“He’s very quick, his first steps are quick and even when he gets going, he’s very quick.

“The pressing style that Jurgen Klopp likes to play under, then the quick counterattack and the runs through the lines, I think he would be able to perform very well in that system.”

Chelsea handed a boost in transfer race of Haaland

The Blues are one of the clubs being linked with Borussia Dortmund Erling Haaland however Real Madrid is understood to be leading the race.

However, Zinedine Zidane prefers to have Karim Benzema as the Club’s striker due to his impressive form of late. Furthermore, Haaland’s valuation makes him a tough acquisition for the Spanish capital club this summer.

“For the moment, we have Karim Benzema,” Zidane said. “And we take advantage of Karim Benzema.”
