Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen is set to return to the Premier League and sign with Brentford on a six-month deal.

According to a report from Sky Sports, the 29-year-old Denmark international midfielder has completed all necessary medical cheques, and he is fit to return to football.

The midfielder had a cardiac arrest during Denmark’s euro 2020 match against Finland in the summer. The Italian medical authority suspended him from playing in the Italian league because of an ICD device fitted in his heart.

The player had to terminate his contract with Inter Milan due to that.

The Italian league has a rule prohibiting the use of an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator.

However, it is not illegal in the Premier League to play with an ICD and Eriksen is set to become the first-ever player to play with the device in the Premier League.

It will be interesting to see whether the 29-year-old can recapture his form and sharpness soon.

Eriksen played his best football with Tottenham in the Premier League, and he knows the league well. The Denmark international will be expected to adapt quickly and make an immediate impact at Brentford.

The newly-promoted side could definitely use his experience and quality in the final third, and the 29-year-old could improve them immensely.

The player has recently been training with his former club Ajax to build up his fitness.

The midfielder will join up with his international teammates Christian Norgaard and Mathias Jensen.
