Newcastle United are in talks to sign the Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson before Monday’s transfer deadline.

The newly appointed Newcastle manager Eddie Howe is not convinced by Martin Dubravka’s qualities, and he wants to bring in another shot-stopper before the window closes.

According to a report from Talksport, the Magpies are eyeing up Bernd Leno from Arsenal as well.

The German international has been linked with a loan move away from Arsenal this month after falling down the pecking order since the arrival of Aaron Ramsdale.

Henderson is in a similar situation at Old Trafford, and he has been playing second fiddle to the Spanish international goalkeeper David De Gea.

Henderson needs to play regularly at this stage of his career, and the move to Newcastle would be outstanding for him.

The Magpies have an exciting project at their disposal. Henderson could be a key part of their project over the next few years.

The 24-year-old was on loan at Sheffield United last season, and he was exceptional for the Blades.

Henderson has shown that he has the ability to develop into a reliable Premier League keeper with regular game time, and it remains to be seen whether Newcastle United can convince Manchester United to sanction his departure before the window closes.
