Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek is set to join Everton on a loan deal for the remainder of the Premier League season.

According to a report from The Athletic, the two clubs have agreed on a loan deal on Saturday, and the player is expected to finalise his transfer before today’s deadline.

The Dutch international midfielder has fallen down the pecking order at Manchester United under Ralf Rangnick, and he needs to leave the club to play regular first-team football.

With the World Cup coming up later this year, the midfielder cannot afford to spend more time on the Manchester United bench. Else, he could risk missing out on the Netherlands squad for the World Cup.

Meanwhile, Everton could use more reinforcements at the middle of the park, and van de Beek could prove to be an excellent signing for them if the former Ajax midfielder manages to recapture his confidence and sharpness.

The Manchester United midfielder was highly rated across Europe before his move to Old Trafford, and he has the potential to develop into a top-class player.

It will be interesting to see if the player can recapture his peak form with a move to Everton this month.

The former Ajax midfielder will add creativity, composure and goals to the Everton side during the second half of the season.

The Toffees have appointed Frank Lampard as their new manager, and it will be interesting to be seen whether the former Chelsea manager can get the best out of his January signing.
