Everton have continued negotiations for the transfer of their former midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye from Paris St Germain.

The Toffees are desperate to bring the 32-year-old to Merseyside and have offered him a short-term deal at Goodison Park considering his age.

Gueye is one of the players that has been put on the exit list at Parc de Princes and the Senegal international is open to returning to Frank Lampard’s side after four years in Paris.

The combative midfielder left the Merseyside club in 2019 and has been a regular for PSG since his move, making 111 appearances in that time and scoring seven times.

But after falling down the pecking order in the Ligue 1 side last season, the time has come for him to move on, and according to Sportsmail, Everton are leading the race for his signature.

The Toffees want two midfielders this summer to boost their stretched squad. They are interested in Chelsea‘s Billy Gilmour too and are also looking to price young forward Armando Broja from the Blues.

With the Premier League set to begin this weekend, Everton are looking to wrap up some summer business in time. They have already completed the signings of Ruben Vinagre, and Burnley duo Dwight McNeil and James Tarkowski this summer.
