Frank Lampard set to add Ashley Cole to his Everton coaching staff

Everton recently appointed Frank Lampard as their new manager, and the former England international will be expected to get the Toffees back on track.

The Merseyside outfit have had a dismal campaign so far, and they recently sacked Rafael Benitez after failing to win nine of their last 13 matches under the Spaniard.

Lampard is now expected to make some changes to the backroom staff. Liverpool Echo are reporting that the former Chelsea manager will bring in his former teammate Ashley Cole to join the coaching staff at Goodison Park.

Furthermore, Everton are looking to offer their former striker Tim Cahill a part-time role at the club as well.

Ashley Cole is currently serving as the under 16 coach at Chelsea, but he is set to join his former teammate at Everton. This could be a great learning curve for the former Chelsea left-back, who is set to be involved with first-team coaching at Goodison Park.

Lampard has also roped in Paul Clement, Joe Edwards and Chris Jones from Chelsea.

Cole was one of the best defenders in the world during his time as a player, and it will be interesting to see if he can help Everton improve defensively during the second half of the Premier League season.

The Toffees have been leaking goals consistently, and they will have to tighten up at the back to finish higher up in the table.

Meanwhile, the Merseyside outfit have signed the likes of Donny van de Beek and Dele Alli towards the end of the January transfer window and Lampard will be expected to get the best out of both midfielders.

Both players have struggled for regular game time at their former clubs, and they will be desperate to recapture their form and confidence with regular football at Everton.
