Gary Neville hits at three Chelsea stars for flopping in Manchester City defeat

Chelsea ready to sell N'Golo Kante during summer transfer

Chelsea’s struggles continued after being humbled by Manchester City 3-1.

Former Manchester United player Gary Neville has hit out at three Chelsea stars for their poor show in the 3-1 defeat against Manchester City.

Chelsea are looking like a club in crisis as their awful run in the Premier League extended after losing against Citizens.

Man City hit three past the Londoners, all of them coming in the first half, leaving Frank Lampard out of depth once again.

Neville has pointed out midfielders N’Golo Kante, Matteo Kovacic and Mason Mount are duly responsible for the defeat.

“I have to say the midfield of Kante, Mount and Kovacic have been nowhere near good enough,”

“It’s been nowhere near good enough in this last 20 minutes. They’ve allowed Manchester City to get a real grip in this game.

“The full backs of Chilwell and Azpilicueta have really struggled but it’s that midfield that has really struggled to get a grip.”

Blues manager Frank Lampard, who is now under more pressure than before, was also disappointed with the result however the former English international vowed that his side would come back strong.

Everyone a month ago saying we could win the league I was pretty sure in terms of a rebuild, the ban and the youth that there were going to be periods of pain we were going to go through.

“When a team gives you a problem it has to be dealt with but we didn’t.

We have character – we have 16 games unbeaten. A month ago people are asking where is this going to go, when are you signing a new contract and now they’re saying the opposite.

“I’ll be the first to look at myself today but I know where we’re at and I know what it takes to churn out the level that City were at today. It’s normal that we take knocks but now is a test.”
