AC Milan 1-3 Juventus: Chiesa-Dybala double caused Milan to suffer first defeat

Juventus have finally ended Milan’s unbeaten run.

AC Milan are no more the invincibles in Europe as they have been humbled by Juventus at San Siro.

The hosts started the game brightly after Samu Castillejo forced a good save from Szczesny.

Juve had their turn to make an impact when Federico Chiesa fired his shot into the crossbar. Not long after, Chiesa found the nets to give Juve the lead, combining well with fellow forward Paulo Dybala.

Milan levelled it up before the half time through a shock Calabria’s strike.

The visitors had full control over the current leaders of Serie A, scoring two more goals as Chiesa completed his double.

Milan have now suffered their first official defeat of the season in all competition.

Elsewhere, Juventus continue to rack up points after emphatic back to back wins, which has now taken them to the fourth spot in the table.

Rossoneri still remain the leaders, a point clear of their arch-rivals Inter.

Despite the defeat, Milan manager Stefano Pioli looked optimistic about his side’s chances of winning the title.

“We have to tip our hats and give credit to our opponents for managing to get back in front.”

“We did what we needed to, created chances and inevitably allowed some too, but after going behind for the second time, it became more difficult to get back into it.

“We’ll evaluate a few defensive situations where we could’ve done better, but the team approached this game with generosity, determination and concentration.

“Their goalkeeper made a great save on Diogo Dalot when it was 1-1, then they went 2-1 up and it became an uphill struggle.”
