Man United 1-2 Sheffield: Bryan, Burke score, United suffer shock defeat at home

David de Gea-Manchester United

Manchester United slipped toward shock 2-1 defeat at home to Sheffield United in the Premier League.

The Red Devils came into this game needing a win to climb to the top of the table and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be thoroughly disappointed with the performance of his players.

The home team started the game impressively but Sheffield managed to carve out the best chances.

Billy Sharp had the first great opportunity of the game and he was denied by David De Gea.

Kean Bryan scored the opening goal of the game on the 23rd minute after heading in a corner from John Fleck.

Manchester United came back into the game around the hour mark when Harry Maguire scored the equaliser for the home side.

The towering defender headed in from a corner off Alex Telles.

The hosts had a great chance of taking control of the game and securing the three points after that, but Sheffield United had other ideas.

The away side scored their second of the game on the 74th minute when Oliver Burke’s deflected effort went in off the underside of the crossbar.

The defeat tonight leaves Manchester United second in the League table with 40 points.

Sheffield United remain at the bottom of the table for the win tonight will have given them immense confidence.

It will be interesting to see if they can build on this and put together a winning run now.

As for Manchester United, they cannot afford to drop points against teams like these if they want to win the title this season.
