Manchester City could confirm the signing of Erling Haaland next week

Erling Haaland-Borussia Dortmund

Manchester City are set to complete the signing of the Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland next week.

According to a report from the Sun, the Premier League giants have agreed on a deal with the German club and the 21-year-old’s capture could be confirmed next week.

The Premier League giants needed to sign a top-class goal scorer and the arrival of the 21-year-old should improve them in the final third.

Manchester City have already agreed on a deal to sign Julian Alvarez from River Plate and it will be interesting to see if Pep Guardiola opts for a two-striker formation next season.

Manchester City certainly have a lot of creative options at their disposal but they need a recognised finisher in order to put away the chances.

Haaland has already established himself as one of the best goal scorers on the planet and he has the potential to develop into a world-class footballer with experience and coaching.

Guardiola has proven himself to be a world-class coach over the years and he could be the ideal man to nurture the 21-year-old into a top-class player.

The Norwegian international has already proven himself in the Bundesliga and he will be hoping to showcase his qualities in the Premier League now.

The chance to join a club like Manchester City will help him fulfil his ambitions.

Ideally, the German club would have expected to hold on to the striker longer but the player has a release clause in his contract which allows him to leave for a fee of around £64m this summer.

Dortmund are powerless to stop the player from leaving the club because of the clause in his contract and it will be interesting to see if the German outfit can replace him adequately this summer.

The 21-year-old certainly has the potential to justify the outlay in the long run.
