Manchester City have announced a contract extension with defender Ruben Dias.

The 24-year-old joined the Premier League giants from Benfica last summer and he has been outstanding for Manchester City.

Dias helped Pep Guardiola’s side win the Premier League title last season and he was undoubtedly one of the best defenders across Europe last year.

According to a statement on the club’s official website, the Portuguese international defender has signed a six-year contract with Manchester City which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2027.

According to reports, the defender is set to receive a bumper pay rise and he is being considered as an untouchable player.

Dias is undoubtedly one of the best defenders in the Premier League and he has the potential to develop into a world-class player.

It is no surprise that Manchester City have tied him down to a long term deal and the fans will be delighted with the club’s decision as well.

Manchester City lost the Premier League title to Liverpool during the 2019/20 season because of their defensive vulnerabilities but Dias transformed them immediately after his arrival last summer and his performances earned him the FWA player of the year award as well.

The defender will be hoping to build on his impressive start to life in England and help Manchester City compete for the Premier League title and the Champions League title this season.
