Man City to continue their pursuit of Harry Kane

Manchester City have recently announced the £100m signing of Jack Grealish from Aston Villa, which is indeed a record transfer in the Premier League history.

However, the Premier League champions’ business is not done yet as they have reportedly set their sights on signing Tottenham striker Harry Kane before the transfer window closes.

Kane emerged as a top target for the Cityzens after he expressed his desire to leave the club for new pastures this summer.

However, Spurs are standing firm on not selling their prized asset this summer and have reportedly turned down City’s whopping offer of over £100m.

However, City are expected to continue their pursuit of Kane soon, and they could be forced to shell out £150m in order to get the deal done.

Kane has recently caused an uproar among Spurs’ camp after skipping the training sessions, which was believed to be an attempt to force out a move from the North Londoners.

Having spent a large sum of money on Grealish’s transfer, it is doubted whether City could afford the transfer of Kane.

The Cityzens might rely on player sales, with Aymeric Laporte, Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva and Gabriel Jesus being placed on the chopping block.

Guardiola confirms interest in Kane, rules out Messi transfer

Pep Guardiola has finally opened up about Man City’s interest in Kane, stating that every club in the world would like to sign him.

The Spaniard manager heaped praises on the Three Lions skipper’s abilities but stated City’s chances are bleak if Spurs refuse to negotiate.

Guardiola said: “He’s a player for Tottenham Hotspur. If Tottenham don’t want to negotiate, it’s finished. If they are open to negotiate, I think not just Man City but many clubs in the world want to try to sign him – we are not an exception – but it depends on Tottenham.

“It’s different from Jack. Jack had a release clause, and he is different. Harry Kane is an exceptional, extraordinary striker – no doubts about that, of course, we are interested – but he is a Tottenham player and, if they don’t want to negotiate, there is nothing more to say. If they want to, we will try.”

The former Barcelona boss also ruled out the possibilities of a reunion with Lionel Messi at Etihad.

The Argentine’s rumours to Man City have emerged ever since Barca announced his departure after failing to find an agreement over a new contract due to financial problems.

However, Guardiola has insisted that the 34-year-old is not in City’s plans this summer.

The Spanish manager added: We were convinced by Grealish and convinced Leo would stay at Barca. Right now, he is not in our thoughts.”
