The 18-year-old made his debut with the Red Devils in the Champions League game against Young Boys.

Zidane Iqbal made his debut with Manchester United in the 1-1 draw against Young Boys in the Champions League.

The 18-year-old was summoned by Ralf Rangnick in the latter stages of the game, replacing Jesse Lingard.

He also achieved a unique feat in the process, becoming the first-ever British South Asian to represent Man Utd.

Iqbal, who is of Pakistani and Iraqi descent, has been plying his trade with Man Utd’s youth ranks since 2012.

The young midfielder signed his first professional contract with the Red Devils earlier this year and now he has etched his name in the club’s history books.

Iqbal offered his thoughts on making his first senior appearance with Man Utd (h/t Metro): “It feels amazing, I’ve been working my whole life for this opportunity, it’s a dream come true, it’s just the start and hopefully I can keep pushing on.

“It was crazy, I was waiting for the ball to go out, embracing it all, looking at the fans, when I came on the loud cheer from the fans was unreal.

“It was more excitement [than nerves], last night I just about slept. I was just embracing it all really, I was hoping to get a touch, I did thankfully, I really enjoyed it.”

Besides Iqbal, Rangnick also gave opportunities to young talents Teden Mengi, Charlie Savage and Shola Shoretire against Young Boys.

The newly-appointed German manager holds the reputation for nurturing young talents and bringing them to the spotlight. The current bunch of Man Utd’s young talents are looking promising and hopefully, they can reach the level of the former academy graduates like Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford.
