Manchester United Update: Latest on Lingard’s future and Ronaldo pictured in training

Cristiano Ronaldo in action for Manchester United

Jesse Lingard’s future

Manchester United attacker Jesse Lingard is in the final year of his contract with the Red Devils and he’s unwilling to sign an extension unless he gets assurances regarding game time.

He has turned down the offer of a new deal from the Premier League side.

The 28-year-old was on loan at West Ham United last season and he was quite impressive for the Hammers.

Apparently, the Londoners were keen on signing him permanently this summer but Lingard opted to stay at Old Trafford and fight for his place.

It will be interesting to see if the England international can force his way into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans.

Lingard needs to play regularly at this stage of his career but Manchester United are well stocked in the attacking department and they have recently signed Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo as well.

It will be interesting to see how the situation develops over the next few months and whether the player is prepared to commit his future to Manchester United after securing ample game time this season.

Cristiano Ronaldo begins training

Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo completed his first training session with Manchester United after his emotional return to Old Trafford earlier this summer.

The 36-year-old attacker completed his five-day quarantine upon his return from international duty and he has now joined up with his new teammates at Carrington.

The Portuguese superstar was pictured training alongside the likes of Juan Mata and Diogo Dalot.

He was also seen having a conversation with the Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Manchester United fans will certainly be excited to see their new signing in action as soon as possible and it will be interesting to see if he gets to make his debut against Newcastle United this weekend.
