According to Goal, the Premier League giants are now preparing for contract talks for the 22-year-old midfielder who has been outstanding for the Blues over the past year.

Mount has helped Chelsea win the Champions League title and he will be hoping to guide his boyhood club to the Premier League title this season.

The 22-year-old is undoubtedly one of the best attacking midfielders in the Premier League right now and it is no surprise that the Blues want to tie him down to a long term contract at Stamford Bridge.

The Chelsea Academy graduate is only going to improve with game time and experience. Mount is yet to reach his peak and he could develop into a world-class player for Chelsea in the coming years.

The report from Goal.com adds that Mount is set to receive a bumper pay rise because of his contributions over the past year. The player has two and a half years left on his current £75,000-a-week contract.

However, the two parties are yet to make contact regarding discussions of a potential contract extension.

It remains to be seen whether Chelsea can finalise the agreement in the coming months.

Mount is a boyhood Chelsea fan and the Stamford Bridge faithful will be delighted if the club can convince him to commit his long term future to the Blues.

The midfielder had a key role in the side under previous manager Frank Lampard and he has managed to carve out a similar role for himself under Thomas Tuchel as well.

The German manager clearly rates the England international highly and there is no reason why Mount would look to leave his boyhood club anytime soon. It is safe to assume but the player will be delighted to sign a new contract when it is offered to him.
