The French star has decided to stay put at Manchester United this season, will try to move on a free transfer to Real Madrid next summer.

Paul Pogba stole the headlines after putting on an impressive display in Manchester United’s thumping win against Leeds United in the Premier League season opener.

The Old Trafford faithful were soon treated with the reports of the Frenchman deciding to stay put at the club this season, claimed by reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano.

However, according to a new report, Pogba is planning to leave on a free transfer once his contract expires next summer, and Real Madrid is said to be the preferred destination.

Pogba’s future has been the subject of discussion in recent weeks after reports emerged that he is unwilling to put pen to paper on a new deal.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had earlier stated that he remained optimistic about the French midfielder’s new deal.

In addition to the reports of Pogba staying at United this season, Romano also claimed that the Red Devils have been in regular contact with the midfielder’s agent over Mino Raiola a new deal, but no agreement has been reached yet.

Elsewhere, Real Madrid, who are understandably cash-strapped, are planning for a mega transfer spree next summer and have already identified targets like Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland.

Mbappe turns out to be a priority for Los Blancos, and the PSG ace is also open to moving to the Spanish capital club on a free transfer next year. Pogba could follow his compatriot as he had once stated his desire to represent the Spanish capital club.

Madrid could face competition from Paris Saint-Germain for Pogba as the French club had been preparing a summer swoop for him before they signed Lionel Messi from Haaland.

As far as Haaland is concerned, Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Chelsea have already registered an interest in him.
