Player Ratings: Manchester United vs Tottenham Hotspur

Ole Gunnar Solskjær-Manchester United

Manchester United put up a disastrous show against Tottenham, suffering a 6-1 humiliation at Old Trafford, their worst performance at home in a long time.

Here are the player ratings of both the teams.

Manchester United

David de Gea – 3

One of the tough nights for the Spaniard keeper as he was constantly harassed by Tottenham attackers. Although he was left in the lurch by the defence, he made less conviction with his performance between the sticks

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 3

Normally, Wan-Bisakka stands out for his defensive display but it was an off day for the right-back. Heung – min Son was too hot to handle for the former Crystal Palace man.

Luke Shaw – 3

Luke Shaw is not an exception either as the left-back put up a dreadful showing. His position is in real danger with the imminent arrival of Alex Telles.

Eric Bailly – 2

The Portuguese centre-back never justified his selection following an erratic performance in the defence. Solely responsible for the third goal of Spurs but also played a hand for the first two. All the hype and hysteria from Solskjaer is only for Baily to drop a stinker.

Harry Maguire -2

United’s record signing was literally treated as if he were a third division player. It is not the first time we are witnessing such a faltering performance from the United skipper. It is a real surprise why United are not linked with any defenders in the transfer window yet.

Paul Pogba – 3

Everybody has been hoping for Pogba’s return to form, but it looks like it will take some time. He had little to offer in the overall display.

Nemanja Matic – 3

The Serbian’s performances post the pandemic break looks a distant memory. He hasn’t been the best since the start of this season, and he never begged to differ against Spurs either. Spurs found it easy to play through United’s midfield.

Bruno Fernandes – 4

United’s reliable performer for a while has been kept shut throughout the game although he scored the first goal.

Mason Greenwood – 3

It was quite difficult for the youngster to be part of the defeat while the entire team had been exposed.

Marcus Rashford – 4

The English forward has less to offer as he was kept at bay for the entirety.

Anthony Martial – 2

It was quite harsh from the referee who left Erik Lamela unpunished for his elbow on Martial. Nonetheless, Martial’s impulsiveness was spotted by the referee, who rightfully showed the red card for the striker.

Substitutes: Fred – 4, Donny van de Beek – 4, McTominay-4

Tottenham Hotspur

Hugo Lloris – 6.5

The French keeper was hardly rattled by United barring the penalty from Fernandes at the start.

Serge Aurier – 8

Aurier has been a different animal since the arrival of Mourinho as he was given the liberty to operate more as a winger on the right flank. He ended up amassing a goal and an assist.

Davinson Sanchez – 6.5

Sanchez was the reason behind United’s only goal after his foul on Martial but he recovered soon as the game bedded in.

Eric Dier – 7

The English man looked composed for the entire game, and he was brilliant with the ball at his feet.

Serge Reguilon – 7

The Premier League debut for the Spaniard ended as a good one as his attacking instinct caused too many problems for United.

Pierre Emile- Hojberg – 8

The Danish midfielder controlled the things from the middle of the park and he registered an assist as well.

Moussa Sissoko – 7.5

Sissoko continues to be an underrated player for Spurs as his impressive work rate and physical presence allowed Spurs to dominate the midfield.

Tanguy Ndombele – 8

Scored the equalizer and the performance is a much-needed one for the Frenchman to regain his confidence.

Erik Lamela – 7.5

His biggest moment was helping Martial receive a red card although he was fortunate to escape the same fate.

Heung-min Son – 8.5

Son’s impressive form continued as he racked up two goals and assists against United. His goal is seven so far in this season across all competitions.

Harry Kane – 8.5

Harry Kane continues to prove his critics wrong by producing a string of excellent performances. The English skipper scored two goals and his partnership with Song wreaked havoc for the miserable United side.

Substitutes: Lucas Moura – 6, Dele Alli – 6, Ben Davies – 6.5
