Everton continues to be linked with new names as their search for a new manager continues following the departure of Carlo Ancelotti for Real Madrid.
The Toffees have drawn up a list of possible candidates for the vacant job that reportedly includes Nuno Espirito Santo, David Moyes, Rafa Benitez, Eddie Howe, Frank Lampard and even Steven Gerrard.
But speculation on the next Everton head coach to take on Ancelotti’s abandoned Merseyside project continues to swirl, with new names continuing to be linked to the vacant job every day. This time, the name linked to the Everton job in some sections of the media is Maurizio Sarri.
According to the Italian website Calciomercato, Sarri is one of the considered options for Everton. The Italian who has been out of a job since 2020 after Andrea Pirlo replaced him despite guiding Juventus to a Serie A win is reportedly in line for the job and is considered a front runner.
The former Chelsea man certainly has Premier League experience, having spent one season at Stamford Bridge and winning the Europa League. He can make Everton an attractive prospect with the brand of football that brought him to the limelight, endeared him to Napoli fans.
Following the reports, some Everton fans took to Twitter to share their excitement on the news, with some making him their number one target ahead of Nuno, who is considered the favourite for the job.
