Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on a deal to sign the Metz midfielder Pape Matar Sarr.

According to The Athletic, the two clubs are currently nearing an agreement but the deal is yet to be finalized.

Furthermore, the highly talented midfielder has not agreed on personal terms with the Premier League club yet.

Tottenham need to add more depth and quality to their midfield and the 18-year-old could prove to be a superb long term investment for them.

Sarr has the potential to develop into a quality Premier League midfielder with the Londoners and moving to the Premier League could accelerate his development.

He will be working in better facilities at Tottenham under better coaches and he would get to learn from top quality midfielders like Pierre Emile Hojbjerg and Ndombele.

The transfer seems beneficial for all parties involved and it will be interesting to see if Tottenham can seal the signing in the coming days.

They are not the only European club looking to sign the highly-rated 18-year-old and it is understood that Metz are in talks with three or four Premier League clubs for the player.

Italian outfit Atalanta are keen on signing the player as well and it will be interesting to see where he ends up.

Ideally, the player should look to join a club where he can play regular first-team football. He is already a starter for Metz and he wouldn’t want to sit on the bench this season.

Regular football could be the key to his development and it remains to be seen what the player decides in the coming days.
