Ten Hag was touted as the next new manager of Spurs.

Tottenham Hotspur have suffered a setback in their pursuit of a new manager as primary target Erik ten Hag has signed an extension with Ajax until 2023.

Spurs have been understandably working on the replacement for Jose Mourinho and identified Ten Hag as a top target after learning that Julian Nagelsmann had agreed to join Bayern Munich, and Brendan Rodgers is not interested in leaving his current project.

Now, Ten Hag has given the North Londoners a fresh blow after committing his future to Amsterdam-based club.

Spurs are now left with fewer options like Brighton’s Graham Potter, Fulham’s Scott Parker and ex Leipzig manager Ralf Rangnick.

Furthermore, other high-shots like Max Allegri and Maurizio Sarri are seemingly inclined towards Serie A.

Allegri has been heavily linked with a return to Juventus after Andrea Pirlo, the current manager, found himself in deep waters after a struggling season.

The former AC Milan gaffer had been linked with a host of Premier League clubs but now looks to have made up his mind to join his former club.

Elsewhere, another former Bianconeri manager Sarri has chosen Serie A as his next destination.

The former Napoli boss was one of the names recommended by Spurs, but Roma are reportedly leading the race for his signature.

Spurs, for the time being, will be supervised by Ryan Mason, who has been signed as an interim manager until the end of the season.
