Spurs hand ultimatum for Nuno Santo

Tottenham boss Nuno Santo has been put under scrutiny following the 3-0 defeat to Manchester United at home.

The defeat was also their second consecutive one following their narrow loss to West Ham in their previous Premier League game.

Spurs have been highly inconsistent under new manager Santo this season, picking up 5 wins and 5 defeats in 10 games.

According to a report from Telegraph via Cartilage free captain, Spurs have handed a two-match ultimatum to Santo to save his job. The North Londoners will be up against Vitesse and Everton in the coming week, and any further downfall could mean the end of the journey for the former Wolves boss.

Santo responds to jeers from fans during the defeat against Man Utd.

Tottenham fans made their feelings clear about Santo during the game against Man Utd, jeering the Portuguese boss when he decided to substitute Lucas Moura.

Santo received more hostility from the home fans when United went on to add two more goals in the second half.

Post the defeat, the former Wolves boss said that fans’ frustrations were understandable due to Spurs’ lacklustre performance.

The Portuguese gaffer said (h/t Metro): “We are not on the right track. I totally understand the criticism. It’s part of football. When the team doesn’t perform, the fans suffer. The fans are not happy, they have shown they’re not happy.

“It’s up to us to take it, tell them we try our best, tell them we are sorry because we didn’t perform as we wanted. We keep on trying. And in a humble way ask them support us all the way.”
