Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with quite a few defenders this summer, and the latest name linked with the move to the London club is that of the Villarreal star Pau Torres.

The 24-year-old centre back has made a name for himself with the Spanish club over the past year, and he helped them win the Europa League.

Torres is undoubtedly one of the best young defenders around Europe right now, and he could prove to be a sensational long term signing for Tottenham Hotspur.

The Londoners were quite vulnerable at the back last season, and they will have to tighten up if they want to challenge for Champions League qualification.

Spurs have already sanctioned the departure of Toby Alderweireld, and Davinson Sanchez could follow the Belgian out of the club soon.

Sanchez has struggled to live up to the expectations at the Premier League club, and he has been linked with a move away.

According to the Times, Torres is valued at £55 million, and Tottenham will have to fork out the reported amount if they want to secure the Spaniard’s services this summer.

Tottenham have already completed the signing of Cristian Romero from Atalanta, and Torres could be their second defensive signing of the window.

The 24-year-old has the potential to transform Tottenham at the back, and he could justify the reported £55 million fees in the coming years.

However, a player of his quality might want to play in the Champions League, and Tottenham will not be able to provide him with that platform.

They will probably have to offer him a lucrative contract to convince him this summer.
