Wolves

Wolves play host to Leicester City on Sunday evening as they continue their quest to make it to the European football playoffs position.

Bruno Lage’s team are off the back of an impressive 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in their new shiny stadium, the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Since taking over in September last year, the Portuguese tactician has only lost six times in 23 games so far and has overseen. Wolves have made an impressive rise to the top half of the table with some pundits also naming them as possible top four contenders showing how far Bruno Lage has taken this wolves team.

Their last win over Tottenham took them to 37 points and in seventh place, six points behind fourth-placed Manchester United with two games in hand.

Given their recent exploits, finishing within the top four looks achievable.

The tie at the Molineux provides Wolves with an opportunity to get their first win one over Leicester in their last five matches. The Foxes have won two of their last five games with Wolves, and the other three ending as draws.

Possible Wolves starting line-up

Jose Sa; Max Kilman, Conor Coady, Romain Saiss, Nelson Semedo; Ruben Neves, Leander Dendoncker, Joao Moutinho, Rayan Ait-Nouri; Raul Jimenez, Daniel Podence.

Injured: Wily Boly, Pedro Neto, Yerson Mosquera

Leicester City

Leicester travel to Wolverhampton to face Wolves in desperate need of a win to salvage their season.

Brendan Rodgers’ team are winless in their last four Premier League games and succumbed to a last gasp equaliser late on in their last game against West Ham United after having been on top in most part of the game.

Their run of consecutive games without a win has left the Foxes languishing in the eleventh position ten points above the relegation zone.

However, they come into this game on the back of 4-1 thrashing of Denmark side Randers in the Europa conference League. They will aim to make it two from two and back-to-back victories against Wolves having won the reverse fixture back in August last year.

The Foxes direly need a positive result in the Premier League and Brendan Rodgers can rue injuries as the cause for his team’s disastrous campaign so far. Losing Wesley Fofana early on in the season was only a warning sign of things to come and Wilfred Ndidi has been forced to drop into defence. And the fact that Jamie Vardy has not started a game since the turn of the year sums up their injury woes.

Leicester head into this encounter with a point to prove as eleventh position is no place for the FA Cup and Community Shield holders. A win against Wolves will either see them climb to tenth position or remain in eleventh depending on the result of Southampton against Everton, albeit having played two games less than the Saints.

Possible Leicester starting line-up

Kasper Schmeichel; Marc Albrighton, Jannik Vestergaard, Wilfred Ndidi, Daniel Amartey; Youri Tielemans, Boubakary Soumare, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall; Harvey Barnes, Ademola Lookman, Patson Daka.

Injured: Ryan Bertrand, Timothy Castagne, Johnny Evans, Wesley Fofana, Jamie Vardy, James Justin

Doubtful: James Maddison, Caglar Soyuncu

Suspended: None
