Maldini confirms the arrival of Giroud

AC Milan sporting director Paolo Maldini has confirmed the signing of Olivier Giroud from Chelsea.

The Rossoneri struck a €2m deal with the Blues for the signing of Giroud last week, and Maldini has now confirmed that the French striker would have his medicals soon.

Maldini said: “Yes, [Giroud] should arrive tomorrow, “

Olivier is a champion and a fresh winner of the Champions League.

“He is a very reliable player, what we were looking for since we need experienced players like him. We are the youngest team in Serie A.”

Giroud’s future at Stamford Bridge was up in the air following his lack of game time under Thomas Tuchel.

It had been speculated for weeks that the former Arsenal would seek a transfer this summer, and Milan have won the race now.

With Zlatan Ibrahimovic set to miss a set of games in the new season due to injury, the onus on Giroud will be high.

Brahim Diaz to join Milan on loan

Brahim Diaz will reportedly rejoin AC Milan on a two-year loan deal from Real Madrid.

The Spanish youngster spent the last season on loan with Rossoneri and also fared excellently. Then he returned to his parent club after the loan spell expired.

Now, Milan have found an agreement with La Liga giants to take Diaz back on loan for two more seasons with a buy option.

Madrid doesn’t intend to sell their young prodigy, who has a contract running until 2025, but they want to make sure he continues to grow as a player at a great club like Milan as a loanee.

Diaz netted 7 goals last term for Milan and was impressive on many occasions. Stefano Pioli has been convinced by the Spaniard’s loan spell and wants to hand him a key role next season.
