Chelsea are looking to sign the Polish international Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich at the end of the season.
The 32-year-old has been in exceptional form for the German club this season, and he has 47 goals to his name in all competitions.
The Blues are in desperate need of a quality striker, and Lewandowski would be a sensational signing for Thomas Tuchel’s side.
Chelsea have had to rely on Timo Werner as their only goal scorer this season, and the German international has been quite disappointing in his debut season.
Tuchel has had to field the likes of Kai Havertz as his striker at times this season.
It is evident that the German manager is not keen on Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham, and therefore it makes sense for the Blues to look for a quality striker in the transfer market.
Lewandowski is one of the best strikers of his generation, and it will be complicated for the Premier League side to pull off his transfer this summer.
There is no reason for Bayern Munich to cash in on their star player, and the likes of Paris Saint Germain and Barcelona are thought to be keen on the player as well.
It remains to be seen whether Chelsea can fend off the competition and secure his services in the coming months.
However, in order for the transfer to happen, the Blues will have to qualify for the Champions League. A player of Lewandowski’s calibre is unlikely to want to play in the Europa League with Chelsea.
The Blues are currently 3rd in the Premier League table, and they have a great chance of securing Champions League football for the next season.
Meanwhile, they will be playing in the Champions League final against Manchester City later this month, and a win could help them attract the top players in world football.
