Juventus 2-0 Roma: Ronaldo leads Juventus to third place in Serie A

Cristiano Ronaldo-Juventus

The Portuguese continued his fine run as Juventus defeated Roma comfortably at home.

Cristiano Ronaldo was at the helm again as Juventus beat Roma 2-0 at Allianz Stadium to move to third spot.

The Portuguese ace, who recently turned 36, opened the scoring for Bianconeri with a brilliantly placed left-footed finish. The goal marked his 16th of this season as the former Real Madrid continues to defy his age by topping the scoring charts.

Juve found their second goal of the night after Roma defender Ibanez turned one into his own nets.

Andrea Pirlo’s men were content with their attack for larger parts in the second half as they allowed Roma to enjoy more possession.

Giallorossi, in turn, found it difficult to breach through the compact defence of the defending Champions as they hardly created any promising chances.

Furthermore, Roma’s poor streak against top clubs continued, having failed to pick up a win against the likes of Napoli, Atalanta, Lazio, Inter and AC Milan.

On the other hand, Juve have leapfrogged Roma to the third position and only five points separate them from leaders Inter Milan.

Following their lacklustre defeat in the hands of Nerazzurri, Juve have since won all of their six games in all competitions and they are now looking in high spirits to get back into the Scudetto race.

They will face Inter Milan in the Coppa Italia semifinal second leg and Napoli in the league before their Champions League round of 16 encounter against Porto.
