AC Milan are set to offer striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic a new contract at the club.

The Swedish international will be a free agent at the end of this season, but club director Paolo Maldini has claimed that the player will be offered a new deal.

The 40-year-old striker has been a valuable player for the Italian club ever since his return to the Italian Serie A, and he’s fit enough to contribute at the highest level for the foreseeable future.

Apart from being an exceptional footballer, the 40-year-old striker will continue to help the side with his experience, leadership and winning mentality. The striker has won trophies across multiple leagues, and he could be an invaluable asset on and off the pitch.

Maldini has revealed that the striker will never be a burden for the Serie A club, and he will continue to play for as long as he wants.

“If he will not be able to go on, he will say himself,” Maldini said.

“He wants to continue at the moment. Zlatan will never be a burden for this team but is always an asset. We have a wonderful relationship.”

The Swedish international returned to the Italian club back in 2019, and he has scored 36 goals in 66 appearances for them so far.

The striker has eight goals in 15 league appearances for Milan this season, and he will be hoping to guide the Rossoneri to a league title this year.

Milan are currently just one point adrift of league leaders and cross-town rivals Inter Milan, and this is a golden opportunity for them to win the Scudetto this year.
