Much Hyped ‘Mbappe-Davies contest’ did not happen
The mouthwatering prospect of the contest between Kylian Mbappe and Alphonso Davies was averted.
As both the players operate along same flank, the subject was widely discussed before the final started. As the Canadian left back goes on overlapping to help forward line it was expected that Mbappe could get free space to operate. They both could be pitted against each other.
Both the managers played it safe. Hans Flick brought Kingsley Coman in place of Ivan Perisic. Having Coman at the front, Alphonso Davies mostly concentrated on defensive duties.
On the other hand, Mbappe mostly operated through the opposite flak. As the PSG forwards shuffled places, it became a collective contest between two teams.
