Victor Osimhen started with a hat-trick and an assist for Napoli

Liverpool reportedly make €70m bid for Victor-Osimhen

Napoli signed Victor Osimhen from Ligue 1 outfit Lillie this summer and the young Nigerian forward has started his career with a bang.

Osimhen bagged a hattrick in Napoli’s latest outings. He managed to provide an assist for his team as well. The Serie A outfit managed to win their friendly games 10-0 (against Castel di Sangro) and 11-0 (against L’Aquila).

Napoli paid 80 million euros for the Nigerian forward and he has a massive future ahead of him. The fans will certainly be very excited to see his performances so far and they will be expecting a quality season from him next year.

Napoli will be hoping to challenge for the Italian League title next year and if Osimhen continues to perform at this level they could have a decent chance of going all the way.

However Napoli coach Gennaro Gattuso has warned the fans not to expect too much from the summer signing and let him perform without any added pressure.

“It’s not like we suddenly signed Pele or Maradona, we simply brought in a player with certain characteristics that can help us,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“It’s too easy to get excited now, we’ve got to give him time and let him work, not put pressure on.

“He is an important player and we paid a lot for him, but there were no doubts he would give us something different that we haven’t had in my time here. There’s a long way to go.”

Osimhen has the talent to succeed in Italy but he will need time to develop and fully showcase his potential. Napoli must look to give him the freedom to make mistakes and learn from them.

Putting too much pressure on the youngster could ruin his confidence right now.
