Sweden picked up a 3-2 win over Poland to book their place in the knockout rounds of the competition as the group winners earlier today.

A brace from Emil Forsberg and a late goal from Viktor Claesson wrapped up a thrilling win for the home side.

Poland managed to get back into the game after going 2-0 down through Robert Lewandowski, and they will be disappointed to come away without anything from the game.

Here at Anytime football, we look at the three major talking points from tonight’s contest.

A herculean effort from Andersson’s Sweden

Few would have expected Sweden to get out of the group stages as the group winners at the start of the tournament. Still, they have been outstanding so far, and they deserve to make it to the knockout rounds of the competition without a single defeat.

The Swedish have shown great character in the tournament so far, and they have the quality to surprise the big guns in the latter stages of the tournament.

Despite losing a two-goal lead towards the end of the game, the home side kept on fighting, and they were rewarded with a winner deep into injury time today.

Robert Lewandowski did his best

Poland finished at the bottom of Group E, and it is hardly surprising given the overall quality of the side.

The Polish were totally dependent on Robert Lewandowski to pull off miraculous results this summer, and the Bayern Munich striker has done all he could have.

Lewandowski scored an outstanding brace to get his side back into the game today, and he could have won the game all by himself, but two of his efforts on goal were denied by the crossbar.

Emil Forsberg and Alexander Isak

The two attackers have formed an outstanding partnership on the left-hand side of Sweden’s attack, and they will be crucial to their country’s hopes of doing well in the European Championships.

Both players have produced remarkable performances in the group stages so far, and Forsberg was the standout player for Sweden tonight as he grabbed a vital brace.

Isak and Forsberg have both proven to be match-winners in the tournament so far, and it will be interesting to see if they can lead their country to the quarter-finals now.
