Australia 3-0 China: Socceroos pick up a comprehensive win in the World Cup qualifiers

Martin Boyle-Australia

Australia picked up a 3-0 win over China in the World Cup qualifiers for the World Cup 2022 earlier today in Doha.

The Socceroos were in excellent form heading into the game and they have managed to extend their winning streak to nine matches in a row.

Goals from Awer Mabil, Martin Boyle and Mitchell Duke sealed a comfortable win for Australia.

Here at Anytime football, we look at the two major talking points from tonight’s contest.

Return of key stars

The likes of Tom Rogic and Aaron Mooy returned to the Australian side for the first time since 2019 and they help the Socceroos dominate the contest against China.

Both have been excellent players for their respective clubs and Australia will feel a lot more confident with them on the side heading into the World Cup next year.

Utter dominance from Australia

China were expected to give Australia a run for their money tonight but the Socceroos were in cruise control.

The Chinese came into the game on the back of a five match winning streak and they had more time to prepare for the game as compared to the Aussies.

Australia produced a total of 23 shots in the game but they will have to improve on their finishing and decision making in the final third.

The Socceroos could have easily scored more goals today and China were lucky to have escaped with a respectable scoreline.
