Jamaica

Jamaica resume their World Cup qualification campaign against Mexico. They direly need a couple of wins and some luck if they are to stand a chance of making it into the playoff berth.

With the first, second, third and fourth positions already comfortably occupied by Canada on 16 points, USA 15 points, Mexico and Panama tied on 14 points. Jamaica have to win all their remaining group games to stand any chances of qualification.

The hosts opened up their qualification campaign with two straight losses and followed that up with a draw against Costa Rica. They haven’t been able to take control of their campaign with only one win in eight matches in the qualification group stages. This has left them faced with an uphill task if they are going to feature in this year’s intercontinental showpiece.

Possible Jamaica starting line-ups

Andre Blake; Javain Brown, Liam Moore, Ethan Pinnock, Kemar Lawrence; Kemar Roofe, Devon Williams, Lamar Walker; Decordova-Reid, Junior Flemmings, Michail Antonio

Injured: Leon Bailey, Magee Tyreek

Doubtful: None

Suspended: None

Mexico

Mexico are on the verge of booking their place in the 2022 FIFA WORLD CUP. They did lose their last two matches in the qualifiers.

El Tri are currently in third place with 14 points, and there are only six games of the campaign left.

Former Barcelona coach Gerardo Martino has come under fire for his team’s recent results in recent times, having gone two games without a win in the group matches and losing back-to-back games against USA and Canada

Their impressive start to the campaign has ensured that their qualification hopes are still alive as they sit just one point behind the second-placed USA.

With six rounds of football left to play, the Argentine tactician has his work cut out for him if he is to steer his team into the world cup through either the playoff berth they currently occupy or piping the USA to second place with a good run of form and a bit of luck on their side.

Possible Mexico starting line-ups

Guillermo Ochoa; Carlos Rodriguez, Nestor Araujo, Johan Vasquez, Jesus Gallardo; Hector Herrera, Efrain Alvarez, Orbelin Pineda; Jesus Corona, Alexis Vega, Rogelio Funes Mori.

Injured: Raul Jimenez

Doubtful: None

Suspended: Hirving Lozano
