After suffering their third defeat in a row in midweek, Western Sydney Wanderers will look to take something positive home when they welcome Brisbane Roar to Sydney.

Stadium: Bankwest Stadium

Key Statistics

  • WS Wanderers have lost last three games.
  • The home team have the second-worst defence in the league, with only Melbourne Victory conceding more goals this season.
  • Brisbane Roar are on a two-game-winning run heading into this tie
  • The visitors have the second-best defence away from home this season, with 23 goals conceded all season and only 14 conceded away from home this season.

Western Sydney Wanderers

Western Sydney Wanderers will hope to put a stop to the three-game-losing run when they welcome their rivals to the Bankwest Stadium this Sunday.

WSW are sitting in 9th place, four points behind Macarthur, who currently occupy sixth place. Their most recent loss to Wellington Phoenix confirmed their status as they can now make the final series playoff, with just two games left in the regular season.

They will now be hoping that they can put up a better performance and salvage a season threatening to end embarrassingly.

However, Carl Robinson will have to sort out his defence to stand a chance of taking anything positive from this game. They head into Sunday’s clash with eight goals conceded in their last three matches and are only behind 11th placed Melbourne Victory as the team with the worst defence in the league this season.

Possible line-ups

Daniel Margush; Tate Russell, Dylan McGowan, Thomas Aquilina, Mark Natta, Ziggy Gordon; Steven Ugarkovic, Graham Dorrans, Keanu Baccus; Mitchell Duke, Bruce Kamau.

Brisbane Roar

Brisbane Roar booked their place in the final series playoff with a resounding three-nil win over Melbourne City in their last outing. A Jay O’Shea brace and a goal from Alex Parsons ensures that Warren Moon’s men head into this tie full of confidence.

‘The Roars’ have won their last two games, scoring five goals. They will look to make it three wins in three games when they travel to Sydney.

The visitors have been one of the best performers away from home this season, taking 20 points from 12 games and scoring 19 times–the third-best track in the league. They have failed to score in only one of their last five away games and will fancy their chances of winning against their hosts, who have a poor defensive record.

Warren Moon’s men hold a better head-to-head record in this tie and have won three of the last four meetings, including a 2-1 victory on their previous visit to Bankwest.

Gol Mebrahtu and Jack Hingert remain the only injury absentees for Brisbane.

Possible line-ups

Jamie Young; Scott Neville, Courtney-Perkins, Corey Brown, Kai Trewin; Jay O’Shea, Rahmat Akbari; Jesse Delay, Joseph Champness, Alex Parsons; Dylan Wenzell-Halls.
