Central Coast Mariners 3-2 Western United: super-sub Kuol inspires Mariners to a comeback win

Alou Kuol-Cantral Coast Mariners

Alou Kuol came off the bench to score a brace in a thrilling win against Wester United.

Alou Kuol is the man of the hour as he helped Central Coast Mariners to an incredible comeback win against Western United, netting a double in the final quarter.

Tomislav Uskok provided an early breakthrough for United after scoring a header from a free-kick before it was cancelled out by Mariners forward Matt Simon in the 16th minute.

The visitors restored the lead right before the half time, with veteran striker Besart Berisha firing in a brilliant from a difficult angle while leaving no chance for goalkeeper Mark Birighitti.

Mariners gaffer Alen Stajcic turned towards teenager Alou Kuol on the bench and the 19-year-old repaid the manager with back to back goals in the final minutes.

Kuol equalised with a header from a corner kick before he netted the winning goal in a similar fashion minutes later.

The young Australian forward is turning out to be a revelation in the A-League this season as he has racked up five goals and an assist in seven appearances thus far.

And today’s performance against Western United would go down as one of the best individual displays this season.

Central Coast Mariners have now moved to the top of the table with 15 points in 7 games, with Brisbane Roar trailing them by three points though they have played two matches less.
