Sydney FC

Sydney FC are still waiting for their first win of the season after a 1-0 loss to MacArthur FC last weekend.

The host fell to the defeat last time out, thanks to an early goal from Macarthur FC’s Lachlan Rose. The defeat followed a 4-2 win over Sydney Olympic in the FFA and a 0-0 draw with WS Wanderers in their first league game of the season.

One point from their opening two games has them sitting in 11th place at the moment. Although there are still a lot of games to play in the season, the hosts will be desperate to pick up a win here and avoid being left rooted at the foot of the table in the coming weeks.

With just one loss from their last six games against the Jets, Steve Corica’s side will fancy their chances of picking up maximum points in this game.

Possible Sydney FC starting line-ups

Andrew Redmayne; Ryhan Grant, Alex Wilkinson; Ben Warland, Joel King; Elvis Kamsoba, Anthony Caceres, Paulo Retre, Milos Ninkovic, Trent Buhagiar, Adam Le Fondre.

Newcastle Jets

Newcastle Jets could only pick up a 2-2 draw with WS Wanderers in their last game thanks to goals from Beka Mikeltadze and Olivier Boumal.

The result extended their winless run to three games in all competitions this season, leaving them well outside of the top six places where they are keen on finishing this season after missing out last year.

The visitors have a poor record on the road, having won just two of their last ten away games.

But a run of seven consecutive games with a goal will at least give them the feeling that they can grab a result in this game.

Possible Newcastle Jets starting line-ups

Jack Duncan, Jordan Elsey, Dane Ingham, Matthew Jurman, Jason Hoffman; Angus Thurgate, Kosta Grozos; Savaas Siatravanis, dos Santos, Olivier Boumal, Beka Mikeltadze.

Prediction

Sydney FC 1-1 Newcastle Jets
