ATK Mohun Bagan climb to the top of the Indian Super League with a win over Odisha FC
ATK Mohun Bagan on picked up a 1-0 win over Odisha FC in the Indian Super League earlier today.
Roy Krishna scored the only goal of the game five minutes into injury time to secure all three points for the Mariners.
Mohun Bagan are now on top of the Indian Super League table and they will be hoping to stay there until the end of the campaign.
Both teams were evenly matched in the first half and they managed to cancel each other out.
They had the chance to take the lead but neither side managed to finish off their opportunities.
Mohun Bagan were the better team overall and the win was a deserved one.
Although they managed to dominate proceedings early on in the game, Odisha managed to keep it tight at the back and close down the spaces.
Jacob Tratt had a great opportunity to put Odisha in the lead on the 38th minute but he failed to hit the target with an easy header.
Mohun Bagan had a similar opportunity just before the break but Roy Krishna fired over the bar.
Neither side were particularly clinical today and they will have to improve a lot going forward.
Mohun Bagan managed to grind out a win here but they will know that they cannot afford to squander good opportunities to score like they did today.
Antonio Habas will be reasonably pleased with his side’s overall performance but he will demand an improvement from his players especially in the final third.
Meanwhile, Odisha remain winless in the Indian Super League so far and they will have to improve a lot in the coming weeks.
