Jamshedpur 1-2 Chennaiyin: Chennaiyin FC secure a winning start

Esmael Goncalves-Chennaiyin FC

Chennaiyin FC picked up a 2-1 win over Jamshedpur FC in the Indian Super League earlier today.

Anirudh Thapa became the first Indian to score a goal in this season of the Indian Super League when he found the net within the first minute of kick-off.

Goncalves doubled Chennaiyin’s advantage on the 26th minute from the penalty spot and last season’s Golden Boot winner Nerijus Valskis scored the only goal of the game for Jamshedpur FC.

Owen Coyle will be thoroughly disappointed with his team’s performance here. His team had the chance to draw level and perhaps win the game.

It will be interesting to see how  Jamshedpur FC manage to bounce back from this in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile last season’s runners up Chennaiyin FC will be reasonably pleased with their start to the campaign.

However, they will have to improve a lot in the coming weeks if they want to do well in the Indian Super League this season.

Chennaiyin FC failed to convert the numerous chances they created and they were lucky that it did not cost them against Jamshedpur.

They will look to win the Super League title this season after coming close last year and they will have to improve a lot in order to achieve their goals.

Meanwhile, Owen Coyle will be hoping that the likes of Jackichand Singh and Valskis can react strongly in the next game and lead his side to all three points.
