North East United picked up a 1-0 win over Mumbai City in the Indian Super League earlier today.

The away side started the game really well with plenty of possession but Ahmed Jahouh’s sending off changed the game completely.

The Mumbai City star was dismissed for a reckless challenge on Khassa Camara.

North East United took full advantage of the dismissal and scored the opening goal of the game on the 49th minute through a penalty from Kwesi Appiah.

Gerard Nus will be delighted with his team’s performance against Mumbai City today. North East United went into the game with a poor record against Mumbai City and this was their fourth win in 13 meetings against the Islanders.

Mumbai came close to levelling the scores twice in the second half through Boumous and Golui.

The Islanders came close to scoring once again towards the end of the game but Adam Le Fondre failed to slot it home from just a few metres away.

North East United will be delighted with how they defended against Mumbai City tonight and they will be hoping to improve their linkup play in the final third.

It will be interesting to see how Mumbai City bounce back in their next game. They will be desperate to pick up all three points after starting their campaign with a defeat tonight.
