Ballon d'Or Leak - Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Virgil van Dijk are top contenders

Not all the players in the world had the privilege to share the dressing room with both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo – the two football icons of this era. But only a few can brag about the fact they have played alongside the two legends.

With Luis Suarez tipped as next in the line – as he had agreed terms with Juventus over a summer move – here are the 13 players who played with both Messi and Ronaldo

Gabriel Heinze

The former Argentine international had played for Manchester United for around three seasons during which Cristiano Ronaldo was getting into the foray.

Fernando Gago

Another Argentine teammate for Lionel Messi, Gago played with Ronaldo at Real Madrid.

Gerard Pique

It is quite surprising to see the Barcelona legend on this list. Pique perhaps spent a season with Red Devils (on loan) where he had the chance to meet up with the Portuguese ace.

Gonzalo Higuain

Messi’s close teammate was also one of the strike partners for Ronaldo at Santiago Bernabeu. Higuain played for the Spanish capital for around six years.

Angel Di Maria

Having known for striking up a great partnership with Ronaldo at Madrid, Angel di Maria is a long-time friend of Messi as both represent La Albiceleste.

Carlos Tevez

Another Argentine in the list, Tevez is known for his time with Man Utd, forming a formidable trio with Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo. Tevez was part of the 2004 Olympics Gold Medal winning team alongside Lionel Messi.

Deco

The legendary Barcelona player has played with Ronaldo at the Portugal national team. Deco is a good friend of both Messi and Ronaldo.

Andre Gomes

The Portuguese international played for Barcelona for around three seasons before sealing a move to Everton. He has earned 29 senior caps with his national side.

Nelson Semedo

The current Barcelona right-back, Semedo is more used to the movements of Messi, has been regular for the Portugal national team. He was part of the side that won the European Championship and Nations League alongside Ronaldo.

Paulo Dybala

Dybala looks to have created a fruitful partnership with Ronaldo at Juventus as both were instrumental behind the Serie A title last year. Dybala also plays alongside Messi with Argentina and is often cited as the successor to La Pulga.

Martin Caceres

Caceres was sparsely used during his time at Barcelona although he was part of the squad that won the Champions League in 2009. The Uruguayan had an intermittent loan spell with Juventus last year, where he got the opportunity to play alongside Ronaldo.

Ezequiel Garay

The Argentine international, who recently left Valencia, had played alongside Ronaldo at Madrid during his three-year spell.

Henrik Larsson

After spending around two years at Barcelona, the swede spent a season at Old Trafford on loan and teamed up with Ronaldo. Larsson is looking to reunite with Messi for the second time as he will serve as the assistant for Ronald Koeman.
