Rangers set to sign Manchester United winger Amad Diallo on loan

Amad Diallo-Manchester United

According to reports, Manchester United youngster Amad Diallo is “set to join” Rangers on a six-month loan.

SkySports are reporting that the Ivory Coast international will join the Scottish champions in the coming days following positive talks between both clubs.

Diallo joined Manchester United in January 2021 from Atalanta in a deal struck in October 2020 as the clubs tried to get him a work permit.

He was born in Ivory Coast, but moved to Italy when he was ten years old. The youngster made his debut for Atalanta in 2019, becoming the youngest player (17 years and 109 days old) to score on his Serie A debut in their 7-1 thrashing of Udinese.

Despite the excitement that followed his arrival to Old Trafford, he has made just nine appearances in all competitions this season. The Red Devils believe this move will be good for his development, with the 19-year-old understood to be a part of the Premier League club’s long-term plans.

His move to Rangers is expected to be completed on Thursday, with the Scottish Premiership side moving quickly to replace the injured Ianis Hagi. The Romania international suffered a knee injury during the Gers’s 4-0 win over Stirling Albion. He has since undergone surgery in London but is expected to be out next season.
