Atalanta will look to take a step further in the Coppa Italia when they welcome Fiorentina to Bergamo on Thursday.
The hosts come into this tie on the back of an embarrassing 2-1 loss to Cagliari in Serie A. A brace from Gaston Pereiro on either side of Jose Palomino’s strike for Atalanta secured the win for Cagliari, putting Atalanta’s bid for Champions League qualification in jeopardy.

After an embarrassing loss to Lazio in the Serie A last Saturday, Fiorentina will be desperate to get a win in this tournament when they face Atalanta at the Gewiss Stadium.
The visitors booked their place in this round of the tournament by defeating Napoli 5-2. In an entertaining game at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona last month, ten-men Fiorentina were able to defeat Napoli in extra time after both sides had played out a 2-2 draw in normal time.
Having beaten a team with the quality of Napoli, they will fancy their chances of repeating an upset here. However, their main striker Dušan Vlahović who scored the opening game in that win, is now at Juventus. So, Vincenzo Italiano’s side will have to find a way past Atalanta.
