The young Portuguese midfielder reportedly caught the attention of Barcelona.
Barcelona have agreed personal terms with Lille midfielder Renato Sanches as Ronald Koeman continues to weigh up midfield reinforcements.
Renato Sanches Transfer Situation
According to a report, the Catalan club has contacted Sanches’ agent Jorge Mendes to discuss a potential summer transfer. Barca are also said to have initiated talks with Lille general manager Olivier Letang. As per latest report, the Portuguese is valued €35m, but Barca are interested in loan terms that a permanent transfer.
The La Liga giants are yet to negotiate a deal with Lille, but Sanches is desperate for a switch to Camp Nou.
Sanches, 23, is one of the most coveted young midfielders in Europe at the moment after his spectacular run in Ligue 1 last season, helping Lille to clinch the Ligue 1 title.
He turned out to be one of the brightest players of the Portugal national team in Euro 2020 despite falling short in the round of 16.
Nonetheless, Sanches’ performances have caught the attention of top clubs, with Liverpool continuously showing interest in signing him.
Barcelona need Midfield reinforcement
Barca are in the market for new midfielders as they are looking to sell Miralem Pjanic this summer, with Juventus touted as his possible destination.
The Catalan club has been previously linked with Saul Niguez in a straight swap deal involving Antoine Griezmann. However, the Atletico Madrid midfielder is now reportedly on his way to the Premier League.
Koeman would have been left disappointed after Barca’s failed pursuit of Georginio Wijnaldum, who eventually left for PSG.
Nonetheless, Sanches can be a perfect fit for the Dutchman, who always prefers his midfielder to be more physical and make defensive contributions.
However, it remains to be seen whether Barca can meet the valuation of the Lille midfielder, which could be normally higher considering his current form.
