Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund will look to move to within three points of Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich when they welcome Freiburg to Signal Iduna Park on Friday night.

The hosts came away with a 2-3 away win at Eintracht Frankfurt in their last league outing. After falling two goals behind in the first half of the game, BVB came alive in the second half, scoring three goals in the final 19 minutes of the match to snatch a vital win in the title race.

The win, coupled with Bayern Munich’s 2-1 home loss to Borussia Mönchengladbach, enabled Marco Rose’s second-placed side to close the gap at the top to six points.

They will now welcome Freiburg looking for another win to boost their chances of a first league title since 2021.

However, they come into this tie in a patchy run of form, as they have won just two of their last five league games (D1, L2). Their season’s average point tally per game stands at 2.06 points per match. But over the last eight games, they have averaged 1.63 points per game, which is 20.9% lower than their current season’s average.

They are still on the right track under Marco Rose though, as they have picked up 37 points so far this season, which is eight points more than they did last season after 18 matches.

SC Freiburg

After the disappointment of last week, Freiburg will look to pick themselves back up again and continue their quest for Champions League football next season.

The visitors succumbed to a 2-2 draw against lowly Arminia Bielefeld last week despite leading 2-0 early in the game.

Christian Streich’s side are punching above their weight this season and come into this tie sitting in fourth place on the table. They currently have the second-best away record in the league and are unbeaten in their last three games (W1, D2)

However, the Black Forest side are at risk of falling as low as seventh this weekend, if they don’t win this game despite starting the year in third.
