Schalke 0-3 Gladbach: Stindl, Lainer score to end 7-game winless streak for visitors

Thuram-Gladbach

Stindl, Lainer score to end 7-game winless streak for Marco Rose’s side.

Schalke crashed to a 3-0 defeat to Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga earlier tonight.

The visitors picked up the first League win in two months and the fans will be delighted with the performance of the players here.

Lars Stindl opened the scoring in the 15th minute and  Stefan Lainer doubled Gladbach’s advantage on the 63rd minute. Frederick Ronnow wrapped up the scoring with an own goal in the second half.

Gladbach managed to score a fourth goal as well but Breel Embolo’s effort was correctly ruled out for offside.

The visitors were on a seven-game winless streak and the win tonight could not have come at a better time.

The away side were determined to pick up all three points tonight and they defended well throughout the game. Schalke had very little opportunity to get on the score sheet.

The home side are now 12 points from safety at the bottom of the table and it will be interesting to see how Schalke bounce back in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile the win tonight will have boosted Borussia Monchengladbach’s European chances and they are ninth in the table with 36 points. They’re just four points adrift after European places and Gladbach will fancy their chances of finishing in the top six now.
