Chelsea’s season suddenly looks in danger after FA Cup loss

Leicester City defeated Thomas Tuchel’s men to lift the FA Cup for the first time.

Thomas Tuchel had transformed Chelsea into a force to reckon with in both Premier League, and Champions League, securing their place in the finals of the latter.

After defeating Manchester City – their UCL opponent in the final – in the FA Cup semi-finals last month, the Londoners looked on course to beat whoever they are going to face in the finals.

However, they succumbed to a narrow 1-0 defeat against Leicester in the finals last night, having lost a game in the Premier League against Arsenal days ago.

This is the first instance that Chelsea had suffered back to back defeat since Tuchel took charge.

Now, the Blues’ attention would be on Wednesday’s league fixture against the same Brendan Rodgers’ side and will look to seek revenge.

But the worst-case scenario is if they fail to win the game, their chances of retaining a place in the top four could look in danger.

The alternative route to book their place in the Champions League next season is to ensure they remain on the winning side against Man City at the end of this month.

Liverpool, who are currently fifth in the table, are making a late surge to push for the top-four spot and they will be hoping to win the remainder of their games.

Chelsea, on the other hand, should not blow up their chances and win the rest of their games against Leicester and Aston Villa.

The defeat in the FA Cup final must have served as a wake-up call to Tuchel, and the former PSG gaffer will look to end the season on a high note.
