Bayern Munich picked up a 3-1 win over Borussia Dortmund in the DFL Super Cup earlier tonight.

It was another thrilling Der Klassiker between the two German giants, and Julian Nagelsmann will be delighted to have picked up his first bit of silverware with the Bavarian giants.

In the end, the scoreline seems quite flattering, and Bayern were put under tremendous pressure by Dortmund throughout the game.

Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer produced a scintillating display in between the sticks for the German champions to deny Borussia Dortmund time and again tonight. He was undoubtedly the difference between the two sides.

Former Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski scored twice against his former side, and Marco Reus scored the only goal of the game for Dortmund with a stunning finish from outside of the box.

Reus was denied twice earlier on in the game by Manuel Neuer.

Despite the departure of Jadon Sancho, Borussia Dortmund looked remarkably cohesive and sharp in the attack, and it will be interesting to see if they can build on their impressive display tonight in the coming months.

Marco Rose will have to sort out his defensive unit in order to win trophies this season, but there were plenty of encouraging signs from Dortmund despite the defeat.

As for Bayern, they have a habit of winning silverware and tonight was no different for them.

They did struggle defensively against the Dortmund attack, but Bayern have plenty of talent at their disposal, and it is fair to assume that they will improve in the coming weeks.
