Barcelona presidential candidate Victor Font vows to bring back Xavi to Camp Nou

Xavi agrees £5.4m-a-year deal, to replace Setien as Barcelona manager

Victor Font has said that he would bring back Xavi to Barcelona as the next manager should he win the election.

Barcelona presidential candidate Victor Font has vowed to facilitate club legend Xavi’s return to the Nou Camp should he win the election.

Xavi has been considered by many as the ideal manager to restore Barca to their former glory, as are the feelings of presidential candidate Victor Font.

Font, who is one of the favourites to become the next president alongside Joan Laporta, has said that he would bring the legendary midfielder back to his boyhood club or else he would pay for the season tickets.

“Xavi will come to Barcelona if I win the election. “If he doesn’t, I’ll pay for every members’ season ticket from my own pocket.”

Font had previously emphasised about how important Xavi was to Barca’s plans, especially with Lionel Messi’s future hanging in balance.

“The best person to convince Messi is Xavi. “He knows him well and Leo trusts Xavi’s ability.

“He will have a place, and is very important in the process. Messi is irreplaceable.”

Xavi, who is the current manager of Al Sadd, had been previously linked with a move to Barca however the Spaniard denied the opportunity as he never wanted to be the stopgap manager. Instead, he emphasized that his project needs to get started from scratch.

Ronald Koeman, who was appointed last summer, has had a disappointing start to his managerial career at Barca, losing four and drawing five times in La Liga this season.
